Title: The Other Boleyn Girl
Author: Philippa Gregory
Publication Date:
Who's reading it?: Meghan
Comments: Very readable story about Mary Boleyn, Anne's sister and Henry XVIII's mistress. I'm not sure how historical it is yet, but I'll know when I read the notes at the end. Interesting, easy read though.
Genre: Historical Fiction

Title: Middlesex
Author: Jeffrey Eugenides
Publication Date: 2003 Who's reading it?: Olivia
Comments: So far really good book about incest and hermaphrodites and (therefore) gender and challenging binary constructions of gender. Plus it's written by a man who can actually kinda get women I think. I left it outside the train station in northern England on Friday, and then came back to the train station. The guard/trainstation man said, "I think we binned it" when I came back to ask about it on Monday (on the way home). He asked if I needed it. I said, "Need?" He said, "okay but you wanted it?" I said, "Yes." He dug it out of the trash bag. Now it smells like stale cigarettes. AND IT'S STILL WORTH READING. Tells you something, right?

Title: In the Company of the Courtesan
Author: Sarah Dunant
Publication Date: 2006 Who's reading it?: M.E.
Comments: Meghan recommended that I read this. It's by the author of The Birth of Venus (which is REALLY good too) and is the story of a Roman courtesan as told by her dwarf as they flee Rome for Florence in the 16th century. I'm having trouble putting it down!
